Football this fall?
"We are trying to move forward [with playing] absolutely," an ACC official said after a Monday conference call. The ACC had announced on July 29 that plans for fall football that will include an 11 game schedule (10 conference, 1 non-conference) which will include all 15 teams. Notre Dame will be eligible for the ACC champoinship game.The MAC and Mountain West conferences have already canceled fall sports, and so have UConn and Old Dominion. It was reported that the Big 10 voted 12-2 Monday to cancel fall football.

Governor Cooper Extends Phase 2, Leaving Many Bar & Gym Owners Frustrated
Restaurants remain at 50% capacity, and bars and gyms remain closed as Governor Roy Cooper continues Phase 2 for at least 5 more weeks.In a briefing last week, Cooper said "stable is good, decreasing is better". As of Monday there were 137,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in North Carolina, and 2196 deaths.

The Belmont City Council approved a new 40 acre "Business campus Development" The request was made for Belmont Industrial LLC, by Charlotte real state developer Scott Bortz. The site is across the street from The Oaks Commerce Center.
Probable Cause Affidavit Released in Death of Mount Holly's Stacy Hunsucker
A probable cause affidavit signed by a Special Agent of the North Carolina Department of Insurance details a portion of the investigation into the death of Stacy Hunsucker. Police are accusing Joshua Hunsucker of poisoning Stacy Hunsucker in September of 2018.The affidavit states that Hunsucker gave at least 4 different versions of what he was doing before he found his wife's body in September 2018. Hunsucker did not allow an autopsy of his wife's body, even though she was an organ donor. Hunsucker also applied for his wife's $250,000 life insurance benefits two days after she died.After Suzie Robinson, Stacy Hunsucker's mom, sent a referral to the North Carolina Department of Insurance, an element found in eye drops and nasal spray was found in Stacy's blood sample. This element is known to cause seizures and cardiac arrest if ingested orally.It was ruled in March court hearing that Joshua Hunsucker will not face the death penalty.
Confederate Soldier Monument Protests Continue
On Saturday a small group of protestors stood by the monument with signs in opposition to the Commissioners decision to gift the monument to the Sons of Confederate Veterans. An Earthquake-Seriously? Pandemic, hurricane, and now an earthquake? Is North Carolina part of a giant game of Jumanji? North Carolina experienced a 5.1 magnitude earthquake on Sunday at approximately 8:09 AM. Project planned at Apple Creek Corporate CenterGNT USA, part of a Netherlands based food coloring manufacturer, announced that it will make a $30 million dollar investment to put a food processing operation at Apple Creek. The company paid $2.3 million for a 49.2 acre parcel. The first phase will be 80,000 square feet, eventually expanding to 260,000 square feet.


11 People Have Died of Covid-19 Since Last Tuesday
11 people have died of Covid-19 in Gaston County since last Tuesday. To date, we have had 3,339 positive tests, and currently have 1341 active cases, 1946 recovered, and 52 deaths. Check out Gaston County's new dashboard here. A vaccine can't get here soon enough.
