Chick-fi-A closing/movingIf you are late to the party, the Chick-fil-A in Franklin Square is closing on June 15th. A new Chick-fil-A is being built on Cox Road, at the former Ruby Tuesday location, between Olive Garden and Starbucks.There are two other Chick-fil-A locations in Gaston County, both in Belmont. One is at 925 South Point Road, and the other at 801 Park Street, off of I-85.

The new Gaston College baseball team- the Rhinos- have been killing it! They only have a few more games. They play the Cleveland Community College Yetis in a double header in Shelby this Wednesday.They play at home Sunday at 2 PM, against Florence-Darlington Tech.More

Gaston County wages down?The Playbook has reviewed the Bureau of labor Statistics data to determine that average weekly earnings rose 5.7% in most US metro areas. That's approximately $48 more per week that in February of 2021.But in the Concord/Charlotte/Gastonia metro area wages declined 1.3%, or about $15 per week.In contrast, Myrtle Beach SC wages increased about 13.8%, or $95 per week.
Ouch! Rent to double at Belmont apartment complexResidents of Cimeron apartments in Belmont were informed by letter recently that their rent was going from $600 per month to $1200.Brown & Glenn, the new property managers, cited renovations as the cause of the rent increases. The new increases go into effect in June.

The Shack Ice Cream changes handsKirk Stowe, former owner of the popular ice cream Shack in Cramerton, has sold his business to realtor Matthew Hanks. The business has been renamed The Happy Hut.Hanks says he plans to keep the same menu, and eventually add some healthy options. The Happy Hut is open, with a grand opening planned for this Saturday, the 30th.
