W. Jeffrey Booker resignsGaston County School Superintendent W. Jeffrey Booker has resigned.Booker was employed by the school system for 14 years, and was superintendent for the last nine.In an email Booker said in part " From day one, I have always been impressed by the employees of Gaston County Schools. Your steadfast commitment to the students of our community is commendable, valuable, and worthy of appreciation. Our school system is strong, productive, and successful because of each one of you,”Booker says his resignation will be effective at the end of the school year..
Another FUSE project announced

Cramerton based Lenox Development Group has announced that they have plans to remodel and develop an existing building at 618 West Franklin Boulevard in Gastonia.The project will be named Hangar 618.The $5 million dollar project will include a cafe and a private car collection, as well as a new office for Lenox Development. This will mean the new space will be approximately 60% leased. The remaining space is flexible retail space.The entire project is expected to take about 6 months.

The former Mike's Grill in Bessemer City has reopened after a year and a half.It's now called Bessemer City Diner. They serve breakfast and lunch, and are open 6-2 during the week 7-2 on Saturday, closed Sunday.Owners JC and Maria Vargas have remodeled both the interior and exterior-check it out!
Gold Bond Building Products to invest $90 million in Mount Holly PlantGold Bond Building Products, an affiliate of National Gypsum Company, is the biggest US manufacturer of gypsum wallboard. The expansion will create about 11 new jobs, and 100 existing jobs will not be affected.

New airport overlook planned

Even been to the airport overlook with a date, your kids or grand kids?
A new Charlotte airport overlook is planned on Marshall Drive just west of the current overlook location. The new location will have many new features, including:
Views of Runway 18C/36C and future fourth parallel runway
Picnic tables and benches
Paved parking for 145 vehicles
LED lighting in parking lot and pedestrian areas
Shaded areas featuring trees and sails
Restrooms with baby changing stations
Pet relief areas
Bicycle rack
Two age-specific playgrounds
Expanded food truck staging area with 10 covered picnic tables
Bus staging area
Static aircraft display
Exhibits featuring Carolinas aviation history
The new Overlook will also include a dedicated memorial for USAir Flight 1016. This is all pending Charlotte City Council approval.If approved, the new overlook should be in place by spring or early summer 2024
