Gastonia's Varner has good run at RBC ClassicGastonia's Harold Varner III had a great run in Hilton Head at the RBC Classic this weekend. He actually was leading by one stroke on Saturday, but fell back Sunday to tie for 3rd. He still had a nice payday, receiving $330,857 for his weekends work.
Changes coming to McAdenvilleA former 1940's Pharr Yarns mill next to the Pharr Yarns Corporate office is being converted into office space, in what will be known as the Dynamo 31 Building. The name commemorates the hydroelectric generator built there in the late 1800's. The first tenant- The Catawba Riverkeeper- is expected to move in mid May.The building with the iconic turrets- the Mill No. 2 building, is getting new copper on the turrets, as well as new windows and re-pointing of the brickwork.McAden Mill No. 3, in the center of town, is getting work done on flooring and the exterior. That building is expected to become entertainment, retail,or restaurant space.Revolver Records recently moved to downtown McAdenville, with 115 Craft, a beer and wine taproom and retailer, coming soon.Last, but certainly not least for all the walkers and hikers, the Carolina Thread Trail is adding an extension that will connect the current trailhead at the Carolina Riverkeeper's Boathouse in McAdenville to Hickory Grove Road and the JM Carstarphen Bridge.The new McAdenville trail will run along the South Fork River for 26 miles. Eventually the trail will run from Spencer Mountain to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, tying together the cities of Belmont, Cramerton, McAdenville and Lowell.
Biscuit wars?First Biscuitville was moving to the Charlotte metro area, and now SC chain Vicious Biscuit is coming. So far their website just says Charlotte, no mention of Gaston County.Biscutville is expanding as well. Currently their closest stores are Kings Mountain and Lincolnton.Love me some Bojangles, but it would be nice to have some variety!

New industrial project in Kings Mountain Pannattoni Development is proposing a new commercial development off of I-85 in Kings Mountain. The project, called Pinnacle Park in Kings Mountain, is scheduled to have four buildings totaling 925,740 feet. Completion is scheduled for summer 2023.
