Judge refuses to dismiss lawsuit over Confederate monumentSuperior Court Judge Steven Warren declined to dismiss a lawsuit filed to remove the Confederate monument from in front of the Gaston County Courthouse.The suit was filed by the NAACP, the National Association of Black Veterans, and the Alpha Pi Alpha Fraternity.
Center City Crossings groundbreakingCenter City Crossings, a 90 unit apartment building on West Main Avenue in Gastonia, broke ground last week. There was some initial push-back by a group of local citizens who wanted to keep the park and green space.Gastonia Mayor Walker Reid III said "

FUSE district is hopping!Kansas based Pendulum Studios, who designed the Caromont Health Ball Park, has several projects on the drawing board.The first two parcels adjoining the ballpark, are designated for 158 units of multifamily housing. Another parcel just beyond the center field wall is slated to be a 6800 square foot restaurant, and a 100 person party deck.Another parcel is beyond the left-field wall is slated to be 58,600 feet of leas-able office space.Another project by the Lansing Melbourne Group is the redevelopment of the historic Trenton Mill into loft apartments.Finally, there is a 5000 square foot redevelopment of a portion of the historic Coca-Cola bottling plant by Durham based Durty Bull Brewing company.
BofA is permanently closing the branch at 2950 Union Road in Gastonia for good in July. Employees have already been relocated.The bank says that 90% of their transactions are digital, and they are trimming their branch network to be more efficient.There is another branch a few miles away on New Hope Road.
