Piedmont Lithium still a maybe in Gaston countyA new lithium mine and processing center is not a done deal for Piedmont Lithium. County Commissioner Tracy Philbeck feels that Gaston County should do their own study of the proposed impact of a lithium mine and processing facility, rather than accepting a study done by Piedmont Lithium at face value. "I've been around long enough (to know) depending on who does the study, to a great degree can determine what the study says," said Philbeck.If Piedmont Lithium is unable to secure permission to move forward, they say they will pursue other mining opportunities in Canada and Ghana.Piedmont Lithium says they plan to sell lithium to Tesla to make batteries for electric cars.Here is WSOC TV's take on Youtube

Her book bag and hair bow were found years ago, but Asha remains missing. Florida resident visiting Gastonia's "Swiss Alps" may returnFlorida resident Olivia Garcia saw a tik-tok video of the Swiss Alps that was labeled "Gastonia, NC", and she decided to visit. She was on her way back home to Florida after visiting Boone. She soon.discovered there are no snow covered mountains of any kind in Gastonia.Last Friday she was on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" to discuss her experience.
Clarkson: When was the moment you maybe realized that was not Gastonia?
Garcia: … We were driving back to Florida when I saw the TikTok about Gastonia, and it showed these beautiful snow capped mountains. It all just looked so surreal. And plus the name “Gastonia” sounds like something out of a fairy tale, right? …When we were about 30 minutes out of the town, I realized, “Oh, no. There’s no mountains!” We had left all the mountains in Boone. But the best part is that I talked to the mayor of Gastonia, and he invited my family and I back to the town for a personalized tour. So I’m going to go back with my family sometime this spring and vlog [video] the whole experience to show everybody the nice parts of the town, how cool the town actually is and what they have to offer.
Clarkson: … For all our viewers in Gastonia, we love you. My family is from near there. It’s beautiful. Thank you for having a sense of humor about this. Gastonia is a beautiful town. And if you’re ever in the Charlotte area, be sure to check it out.
