Honey Hunters Baseball in trouble? If this video is to be believed, the Honey Hunters are in trouble. This video claims that the Honey Hunter players were not paid, and that the Atlantic League has stepped in to pay the players through the end of the season...but not staff or management. The video also claims that Brandon Bellamy and company are remiss in fulfilling business commitments to local companies, employees, and vendors. What follows is part of a quote by Gastonia City Councilman Robert Kellogg from Facebook " “I stand in solidarity with our team players, first responders, employees and vendors. As an elected official for the city of Gastonia, my first priority is to the people of this city,” Kellogg wrote. “That responsibility is a sacred trust and because of that trust I cannot condone the reported actions that are bringing hardship and distress to players, employees, first responders and vendors. I don’t want to kick anyone when they are down and certainly understand the plight of a small business that appears to be in turmoil. However, we need some answers. We have spent much of the past year in the dark and it is time for the light of transparency and accountability to shine. This is not too much to ask for.”In the financial industry there is a saying that says: "money goes from weak hands to strong hands".  If all of this is true, perhaps we will get a new owner that has baseball experience, and the wherewithal to delver the kind of product that the City of Gastonia and Gaston County deserve.
