Yesterday marked 146 years since the City of Lowell was incorporated (1879). Here are some other fun facts:
The city was named after Lowell, Massachusetts, a textile manufacturing town located near Boston.
Lowell's settlement dates back to 1848 when Woodlawn Mill was built on the South Fork.
Before Lowell was formally established, the community was once known as Wright's Station, which was the name of the small depot along the Atlanta and Richmond Air Line Railway.

Sketchers fans rejoice! Love the new hands free Sketchers slip ons? Gastonia is getting a new Sketchers store. The will be located beside Michael's in the Walmart shopping area.
The Bottle Tree is closing-opening with new conceptThe Bottle Tree in Belmont is closing, and reopening with a new concept. After five years, their final service will be February 16th.They plan to reopen as Kaya Gastrolounge in March.

New coffee shop opens in Belmont
Jade and Eloise Obsidian Coffee Co. has opened their second location in Belmont.
They import coffee straight from their farm in Angostura, Antioquía, Colombia and roast it in Belmont & Shelby. They also carry *tropical* smoothies from Colombia using fresh fruit never additives or purées.
They use organic small batch syrups in their drinks and you can buy the syrups and bags of coffee for the home as well.
They also offer Colombian hot chocolate that they make, tea, and carry empanadas, tequeños (Colombian cheese sticks) pan de bonos (Colombian cheese bread) local sweet pastries and more!
