Big Lots may live yet
Last week, it looked like Big Lots was done for. Now it looks like it may have a lifeline.Variety Wholesalers Inc. , out of Henderson NC, will acquire 200-400 Big Lots store They will also acquire two distribution centers, if approved by the bankruptcy court. No word yet on how the Belmont store will be affected.A late development is that former Modell's Sporting goods owner Mitch Modell wants to buy Party City and Big Lots, to "save 33,000 jobs".
Mr. 3's Crab Pot has closedThe Gastonia location of Mr. 3's Crab Pot has closed. Sunday was their last day.They were located on Ozark in the former Fat Cats location. They still have a Charlotte location.
Izzy Bella's Creations opens in downtown Gastonia
Izzy Bella's Creations has opened at 324 West Main Avenue. They are located in the back of the building, facing the parking lot.Izzy Bellas offers custom and pre-made t-shirts, coffee mugs, tote bags, jewelry, Valentines baskets, home decor, and much more. Owner Crystal Larson makes all of her merchandise, and plans to offer crafting classes in 2025.More...

Gastonia Police Department considering adding school cameras to Real Time Crime CenterAs we reported earlier, the Gastonia Police Department is assembling a Real Time Crime Center, featuring hundreds of cameras in the Gastonia City limits. Now they are considering adding school cameras to their feed. The school cameras already exist, so they would not need to be purchased.The City is aslo inviting businesses and homeowners to participate, meaning the Gastonia Police Department would be able to access that footage in the event of a crime. Ring doorbell type cameras are included.
Cramerton gets new sculpture and pocket parkCramerton was gifted a sculpture in 2018, but lacked the $100,000 needed to install it. That money has since been raised through private donations, and the sculpture has been placed in a new pocket park near Riverside Drive in Cramerton.The sculpture was originally installed at the corner of Trade and Tryon in Charlotte in 1983. Created by artist John Rietta, the sculpture was moved in 2018 so the plaza where it was located could be renovated.tiful!Beautiful!
