Two code named industrial projects on the way to Gaston County?

The Gaston County Board of Commissioners is set to consider incentives for a pair of code-named economic development projects at its meeting tonight. Project Box and Project Precise are both described in county documents as being manufacturing and distribution operations.

Project Box is the smaller of the two; County documents stating “to relocate, design and up-fit one existing building used for manufacturing and distribution.”  Project Box is expected to be a $2.5 million dollar investment.

Project Precise is looking at a $4 million investment “to design and build additional buildings to increase its manufacturing and distribution facility in Gaston County,” according to County documents The project is expected to create 31 jobs in the county over the next year, with an average annual wage of $58,871. In addition to a county incentives grant, commissioners will also consider authorizing an application for $230,000 through the state’s building reuse grant program for Project Precise.
