So last month a notice of violation was issued to the Catawba Indian Nation and Two Kings Casino partners for expanding the casino without an approved management contract. “We issued a Notice of Violation to both enforce regulatory compliance and ensure the Nation is the primary beneficiary of its gaming revenue,”  the commission said in a statement at the time.Penalties included possible temporary closure,and/or a $57,000 daily fine.

Last weekend, a reporter for the Post and Courier, Maggie Brown Driggers, was removed from a meeting at the Catawba Nation in Rock Hill and cited for trespassing. She was evidently working on a story about the Catawba Nation cutting ties with Kings Mountain Sky Boat Partners when she attended the meeting, although her request for an invitation had been rejected. She has since been banned from Tribal Lands.
